At the foot of the main page is listed who is online.

Registered Users
Guests
And Hidden

So what constitutes a 'hidden' user?

Just like on th other board. A registered user who does not wish others to know that he/she is watching the board.

Go to profile, click on preferences tab. The question is five statements down.
